Special Interest and Support Groups

The Australian Dyspraxia Association

This group consists of parents and professionals who have children or an interest in helping children with dyspraxia.  It is the only representative body for Dyspraxia in Australia.

The Dyspraxia Association run support groups and educational workshops.  Their web site also has information on dyspraxia.


Autism and Aspergers Support Group

Support group set up by parents and carers of individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorders.  Those who wish to attend support groups, organised events, activities and social groups are welcome to become members.
Brain Line Kids

A specific section dedicated to children with traumatic brain injury, within the Brain Line web site.  Provides useful resources and information on TBI.
Can Child – Centre for childhood disability research

A research and educational centre in Canada focused on improving the lives of children and adolescents with disabilities and their families.

Their website has a wealth of resources and up to date research in the field of childhood disability.

Information, services and research for people with Cerebral Palsy.


DIRFloortime – The Interdisciplinary Council of Developmental and Learning Disorders

An American site with good resources for Autism Spectrum Disorders.
Down Syndrome NSW

A community based, not-for-profit organisation established by the families of people with Down Syndrome.  They provide support and information to people with Down Syndrome and their families through a range of activities.
The Dyspraxia Foundation

A UK based charity set up by two mothers with children diagnosed with dyspraxia.  Their web site has lots of information on dyspraxia for parents, children and professionals.
My Child With Out Limits

Information and social networking for families and caregivers of children with developmental disabilities.  Disabilities covered include:

Raising Children Network

The Australian parenting website: comprehensive, practical, expert child health and parenting information and activities covering children aged 0-15 years.

Whilst this website caters for children of all abilities, there is a section dedicated to children with a disability and those with Autism.  There are a number of discussion forums, including one for parents of children with a disability.

America Speech-Language-Hearing Association

The professional association for audiologists, speech pathologists, and speech, language, and hearing scientists in the USA.  They have an excellent resource section for the public on speech, language and hearing problems.
