Erika graduated as a Physiotherapist from the University of Sydney in 1997. Erika has worked as a physiotherapist in Australia and the United Kingdom in a variety of rehabilitation and aged care settings. She has a particular interest in working with older people, addressing issues that come with natural ageing, following stroke and other conditions, including Parkinson’s disease and dementia. Erika has been instrumental in devising the exercise classes at Rehab on the Move for people with dementia and acquired brain injuries. Erika designs the physical exercises to ensure they are challenging, regardless of the physical ability of each participant. She also incorporates evidence-based falls prevention exercises into the work-out. Her practical approach to goal setting and rehabilitation makes therapy with her an enjoyment. In addition, Erika also has a special interest in respiratory physiotherapy. This can aid in maintaining clear airways for people with chronic breathing difficulties and can be done in the home. Erika is fluent in Afrikaans, some German and Latvian.
