We assist children

We assist carers (e.g. parents, teachers and siblings) and disability support workers learn and or refresh their manual handling skills. Training can be provided in our premises in Pymble or onsite.

Tracking your child’s progress

The competency assessment process ensures that participants can demonstrate competency in risk assessment and practical manual handling principles, techniques and strategies.

Training Programs

Training programs cover a range of hazardous manual tasks, to prepare carers and disability support workers to work with clients in different environments. Our trainers will liaise with you prior to the session to tailor the session to the specific training needs of your organisation. Training programs include some of, and are not limited to the following activities:
• Hazardous manual task legislation and organisational requirements
• Anatomy of the spine
• Five main principles of manual handling
• Awareness and application of risk identification and risk management principles.
• Application of manual handling principles to domestic tasks
• Practical manual handling training including: sit to stand transfers, assisted walking, bed mobility, pushing a wheelchair, transfers in and out of vehicles, use of a van hoist and use of mobile/ceiling hoists.
• Specialist training for specific tasks can also be provided upon request. For example, use of standing frames and paediatric specific training.

The Team

Our highly experienced occupational therapists and physiotherapists will work closely with you to deliver training sessions that create a proactive, safely focused work environment by improving hazardous manual task knowledge and manual handling techniques to staff members.
